“Knowledge leaves no regrets.……………We must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.” ~ Marie Curie
It is an honour and privilege to be a part of the Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University of Jhargram — an institution deeply rooted in the inspiring landscape and cultural legacy of West Bengal’s Jungle Mahal.
Jhargram, a region of serene forests and rolling hills merging with the undulating landforms of plateau and its fringes, holds in the deepest corner of its heart, a brimming aspiration for learning, distinction and excellence. We draw inspiration and strength from the natural beauty, rich traditions, and diverse cultural expressions of this land. The Jungle Mahal is not only a repository of biodiversity and natural resources, but also a nurturing ground for creativity, craftsmanship, and community wisdom — the core and enduring values that shape our vision for education and human development.
At Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University of Jhargram, we commit to promoting academic excellence, devotion, independent thinking, and innovative research. We strive to build an environment where curiosity flourishes, imagination is encouraged, and learning goes hand in hand with skill development, empowerment and employability. Our goal is to prepare students to meet the challenges of today’s continuously reshaping world with confidence, competence, and compassion.
We believe that education must be locally grounded, besides being globally relevant. Drawing inspiration from the ethos of the works of “Mahakabi”, the visionary Santali poet, Sadhu Ramchand Murmu, we aim to integrate traditional wisdom with modern knowledge, fostering a spirit of inclusiveness and progress that benefits the region and beyond.
As we move forward, I invite all students, faculty members, and other stakeholders to hold hands in building a vibrant, progressive university community — one that stands for knowledge, creativity, opportunity, advancement, and social responsibility, and would certainly have a promising participation and contribution in prospering our nation. As Pandit Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar stated, “Education is the ultimate source of power and progress, and the greatest deed of a man should be the well-being and service of others; this is what builds a prosperous nation.”
